CBSE has made changes to the exam pattern in the year 2021-22 for the board classes. They have not only made changes in the syllabus but also have made changes in the marking scheme. The entire syllabus of class 12 maths is divided into two terms. Half topics will be covered in the first term and another half in the second term. Term I Syllabus for class 12 maths
The total duration of the paper will be one and a half hours that is ninety minutes. The term I paper will be 40 marks. In term I all questions will be multiple-choice questions. Students have to choose the right option for the given question out of the four options. There will be no theoretical questions. The chapters covered in the first term for class 12 maths include the following
Relations and Functions: Students can get questions worth 8 marks from this chapter in the first term.
Algebra: Students can get questions worth 10 marks from this topic in the first term.
Calculus: This is the most important topic for class 12 students. This chapter is covered in the first term examination and students can get questions of 17 marks. Therefore, students must properly understand the concepts of this chapter to score high marks in the first term.
Linear Programming: This chapter covers questions worth 5 marks.
There will be an internal assessment of 10 marks and the total marks for the first term will be 50 marks.

Term 2 Syllabus for class 12 maths
Term 2 will also be for 40 marks. There will be theoretical questions for 40 marks and an internal assessment of 10 marks. In term 2, students will get theoretical and long questions based on the syllabus prescribed for the class 12 maths term 2. The duration of the exam for term 2 will be two hours. The topics covered in the second term include the following:
Calculus: Calculus will also be covered in the second term. Students can get questions worth 18 marks from this unit in the second term.
Vectors and Three Dimensional Geometry: It is also an important chapter of the second term. Students can get questions worth 14 marks from this unit.
Probability: It is an easy chapter and students will get questions worth 8 marks from this chapter.
The total marks for Term I and Term II is 80 and the rest 20 marks are covered by the internal assessment which is done based on the class tests and maths assignments. Students have to give two periodic tests in a year and two activities. The activities will include a file record and viva with the file as per the guidelines issued by CBSE.

Students of class 12 can score high marks in class 12 maths by making a proper study plan for both terms I and term II. The syllabus has been reduced and it makes it easy for the students to finish the syllabus quickly. The syllabus for class 12 maths has been reduced by 30%. Relations and Functions: This unit includes two chapters. The first chapter is relations and functions and it includes topics such as reflexive, symmetric, transitive, and equivalence relations. Algebra: this unit also includes two chapters. Chapter one is matrices in which students will study matrices and their operations. The second chapter is Determinants in which students will study determinants of a square matrix, properties of determinants, co-factors, and applications of determinants for finding the area of a triangle.
Calculus: It is the third unit and includes five chapters. The first chapter is Continuity and Differentiability. The second chapter is applications of derivatives, the third chapter is integrals, the fourth chapter is the application of the integrals, and the fifth chapter is differential equations.
Vectors and Three-dimensional geometry: It is the fourth unit of class 12 maths and it includes two chapters. The first chapter is Vectors and the second chapter is three-dimensional geometry.
Linear Programming: It is the fifth unit in class 12 maths. The unit includes only one chapter based on Linear Programming. In this chapter, students will learn about different types of linear programming problems, feasible and infeasible solutions, etc.
Probability: It is the last unit in class 12 maths. The unit only includes one chapter. In this chapter, students will learn conditional probability, multiplication theorem of probability, Bayes’ theorem, etc.
